Hello Everyone!
Finally, on the last blank section here on Feather’s Charm! Today’s post is all about what to do when you’re feeling unmotivated to go anywhere, but still want to do things around the house! I know I get very unmotivated sometimes, and I don’t want to work on anything, and that includes doing things for Feather’s Charm! So, here are 5 things you can do, when you’re feeling lazy and unmotivated, and don’t worry, you can do all these things in the comfort of your own home!
1. Read A Book
Yes, I know, you have phones you can read on, and there are many apps, social media posts and other interesting articles to read online, but nothing beats a good book. The physicality of turning a page is what makes reading a book a novelty experience. So, if you’re unmotivated, read a book. It doesn’t have to be a textbook or a heavy thriller. You can read something light, maybe a romance, or a young adult’s adventure book.
I can guarantee you that you’ll lose yourself in a good book for hours, and you wouldn’t even have to get up from your bed! Reading a good book is one of the best things to do when you’re feeling unmotivated because it not only lets your mind escape your reality, it sparks your creativity and possibly your motivation for the rest of the day.
2. Start A Journal
Another thing you can do, when you’re not feeling particularly motivated, is to start a journal. You might already have one, or you might not, but what’s true is that when you journal, you’re de-stressing, and most of the time, the reason you’re unmotivated is because of the stress you face or have faced recently. Motivation comes from energy, so when you’re out, it’s because you’ve used it all up, stressing about something.
So, release that stress by writing it out in a journal. It doesn’t have to be as fancy as a bullet journal, or even a junk journal…although these types of journaling can help out as well. I mean, just write out how you’re feeling in a pretty notebook and let all those feelings go. The more you write, the more you’ll feel better. And sometimes, your motivation will pick up again, once you’re done.
3. Knit or Crochet Something
You should all know by now that I’m an avid knitter and crocheter, so I would say, if you’re bored, but don’t want anything too stimulating, then knit or crochet. It’s a therapeutic activity, so you don’t need to think too much about it. So, why not knit or crochet something simple, like a scarf or a small pouch! Not only will you have a unique item, but you’ll also stave off that restless boredom that comes with not being motivated to do things.
I know that when I don’t feel particularly motivated, I just knit or crochet the project I’m already working on. In fact, I make sure to have a blanket project in the works, while I work on other projects because there will always be a time when I don’t feel like creating something new or doing anything for my other projects. So, have a knitting project in the background, so you can work on it when you don’t feel like doing anything.
4. Watch Your Favourite Movie Marathon
One of the best things to do when you’re feeling unmotivated is to turn on your favourite movie or TV show and let it run throughout the day. Yes, I know, it’s an unproductive move, but you’ll be unmotivated anyway, why not watch your favourite movies on repeat? I myself would have the Harry Potter movies on in the background, while I knit, or play games on my phone.
You can even invite some friends over to chill and watch those movies with you. Just watching TV is one of the best things to do when you’re feeling unmotivated, especially if the show or movie inspires you. Sometimes, I like to watch travel shows, or home renovation shows, to give me ideas for when I am motivated and want to renovate my own home. So, why not watch something inspiring for when you’re next feeling motivated!
5. Have A Spa Day
If you ever feel so unmotivated to do anything, have a spa day! Slather on some clay on your face, make up your favourite cocktails and relax as the mask clears your skin. Or draw yourself a bubble bath, or use bath salts, and just have a relaxing and uneventful day. As I mentioned before, whenever you feel unmotivated and lazy, it’s mostly because you’re overstressed and overstretched. It’s your body’s way of telling you that it needs to slow down and reset.
So, have a spa day, to help unwind from that tension. It’s important that you listen to your body and reset when it needs to, otherwise, you’ll burn out and your laziness might last much longer than it should. Allow your body and mind time to rewind and heal, before jumping into a project, or doing any productive activity.
